2. Overview
KeyClear is built around data-minimising, local use. The app documents apartment handovers on the iPhone. Handover data is processed locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your handovers, photos, reports or backups, and we cannot read this data.
According to the current app privacy manifest, KeyClear collects no data types within the meaning of Apple's app privacy information and uses no tracking. There are no analytics or telemetry SDKs and no silent upload of your handover data.
3. Website
This website is a static product page without contact forms, logins, user accounts or analytics scripts. When you visit the website, technically necessary access data such as IP address, date and time of the request, browser information and requested files may be processed by DanubeData as the hosting provider. This processing serves the delivery, stability and security of the website.
The legal basis for technically necessary website access is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to provide the website reliably and securely.
4. Downloads and purchases through Apple
When you download KeyClear from the Apple App Store or make an in-app purchase, Apple processes the data required for this under its own responsibility. This can include, for example, Apple ID, device data, payment status, purchase history and technical transaction data. We have no direct access to and no influence over this processing. Apple's privacy information applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
KeyClear uses StoreKit to provide prices, purchases and restores. The app stores locally which unlocks are active on this device or for this use, for example a single unlocked report or KeyClear Pro Lifetime. This local unlock information is used solely to provide the purchased features. The UserDefaults API declared in the app privacy manifest with reason CA92.1 is used for local settings, unlocks and status information on the device.
5. Using the KeyClear app
When using the app you can record handover information, such as parties, rooms, notes, defects, photos or other media, meter readings, keys, confirmations, signatures, report drafts and export data. This content is stored locally on your device and remains under your control.
KeyClear only accesses system features such as camera, photos, files, local notifications, calendar or reminders when you actively use the respective feature and grant the required iOS permission. Calendar or reminder entries are never written automatically, only after your explicit action.
6. Exports, backups and iCloud Drive
You can create reports, PDF files, ZIP archives or local backups and pass them on using the sharing and storage features offered by iOS. Which recipients or storage locations you choose is up to you.
Local backups remain on your device or at the storage location you choose. iCloud Drive backups are optional and only start when you enable and trigger this feature yourself. There is no mandatory account with us, no automatic cloud synchronisation through our servers and no silent upload. If you use iCloud Drive, Apple processes the data within your Apple account; we have no access to it.
7. Support and email enquiries
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide, for example email address, name, message content, attachments, timestamps and technical email metadata. This is used to answer your enquiry, ask follow-up questions and keep the process traceable.
Please only send us app content, screenshots, reports or backups that are necessary for your enquiry. If you voluntarily include such data, we process it only to handle your enquiry and not for any general analysis of app usage.
8. Recipients and services used
Depending on your usage, recipients of personal data can include in particular:
- Apple, insofar as you use the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud Drive, iOS permissions or system features such as camera, photos, files, local notifications, calendar or reminders.
- DanubeData as the hosting provider of this website, insofar as technically necessary access data is processed to deliver the website.
- Email and support services, insofar as they are necessary for delivering, storing and handling your enquiry.
- Recipients or storage locations you choose yourself when exporting or sharing reports, archives or backups.
As of today, KeyClear uses no analytics, tracking, advertising or telemetry services of its own.
9. Purposes and legal bases
The local processing of your app content takes place to provide the app features you request. Where we process personal data in connection with the App Store, in-app purchases or support enquiries, this is done to perform a contract or pre-contractual measures under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. General enquiries, technical traceability and website security are processed on the basis of legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Statutory retention obligations can be based on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.
We cannot view, change or delete handover data stored purely locally, because it does not reside on our servers.
10. Transfers to third countries
For Apple and for email or support services, processing outside the EU or EEA, in particular in the USA, cannot be excluded. For hosting through DanubeData, the possible involvement of further service providers is governed by the hosting provider's privacy and contract terms. Where providers are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the EU Commission's adequacy decision can apply. Otherwise, appropriate safeguards such as EU standard contractual clauses are used where necessary.
11. Obligation to provide data
Entering local app data is voluntary but necessary for the respective app feature. App Store and purchase data is required so Apple can carry out downloads, purchases, restores and billing. Website access data is technically required to deliver the website. Support data is voluntary; without the information needed for the enquiry, however, we may not be able to process it.
12. Automated decisions and profiling
We do not use automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR and do not create profiles of your app or website usage.
13. Data protection officer
No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so. Privacy questions can be sent directly to the contact address above.
14. Retention
Local app data remains stored until you delete it in the app, remove the app data or uninstall the app. Local or iCloud Drive backups remain until you delete them at the respective storage location. Technical website access data is stored by DanubeData as the hosting provider only as long as required for operation, security and traceability. Support and email enquiries are stored only as long as required for handling them and for statutory retention obligations.
15. Your rights
Within the statutory requirements, you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint about the processing of personal data with a data protection supervisory authority.
The competent supervisory authority for Bavaria is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, https://www.lda.bayern.de/.
Since we have no access to your locally stored KeyClear handovers, we cannot hand over, change or delete this data for you. You can manage it directly in the app, on your device or in your Apple/iCloud storage.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy if legal requirements, the website, the app features or the services used change. The version published on this page applies.
17. Contact
Questions about privacy can be sent by email to support@keyclear.app.
